Pitch, Hit and Run Competition

Glen Ellyn Baseball is excited to announce that we will host an Aquafina Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit & Run Competition on Saturday and Sunday, May 5th and 6th. The competition will take place from 8 am to 12 pm each day at Village Green Park.

The weekend will kick off Saturday morning with a T-Ball ONLY parade at Village Green Park on Saturday at 8:30am. T-Ball 1 & 2 will then participate in a “Skills Challenge” on VG fields 7&8.

The competition includes four age groups: 7- to 8-year-olds, 9- to 10-year-olds, 11- to 12-year-olds, and 13- to 14-year-olds. The Pitch, Hit, Run & All-Around Champions from each division (7/8, 9/10, 11/12 & 13/14) will all advance to the sectional competition in Schaumburg on 5/19 with a chance to advance to the MLB Team Competition at either Wrigley Field or US Cellular in mid-June and ultimately a chance to advance to the National competition at the MLB All-Star Game in July.

The Pitch, Hit & Run is Major League Baseball's official skills competition, in which participants compete in three separate categories of baseball skills. In the pitching category, competitors throw baseballs at a "strike zone" target. In the hitting category, competitors hit from a stationary tee. Finally, the running category is a timed run from second base to home plates.

Because this is a Official MLB competition, we will need a completed registration form for each kid.  To help keep the competition running smoothly, please have your parents download and bring the completed form with them on the day of the competition. Please print out and fill out the registration form found here.

Schedule:

Due to the number of kids in our program, we are holding 2 separate competitions first on Saturday 5/5 from 8-noon and the second on Sunday 5/6 from 8-Noon.  This means we can send 2 sets of champions from each division (Saturdays Champs & Sundays Champs).

Because parking is a challenge at VG, each league has been assigned a time slot in order to even out the traffic throughout the weekend. If a kid cannot make it during their assigned window, they are more than welcome to choose a time or day that works for them, but we do ask that they do your best to stay within the assigned time slot. If you can, please carpool. While we encourage as many spectators as possible, please have grandma & grandpa meet at the house and come together in one vehicle. The times for each league are as follows:

Saturday (5/5) – Bantam 8:30 – 9:30 / Maverick 9:30 – 10:30 / Pony 10:30 – 11:30

Sunday (5/6) – Shetland 8:30 – 9:30 / Mustang 9:30 – 10:30 / Stallion 10:30 – 11:30

We understand that there will be some who will miss having the downtown parade. We hope you enjoy this new tradition and for those families who may be disappointed in not having the downtown parade, GELL will have a spot in the 4th of July parade. We would like to give any player who wishes to walk with us the opportunity to do so.
